Richard “Dicky” Mortimer was larger than life in every sense, and never missed an opportunity to make people laugh. A born storyteller and a truly funny man, he had a mischievous sparkle that let you know you were about to be entertained. He loved a bit of French — a proud and cheerful “Bonjour!” often delivered with great enthusiasm — whether you were ready for it or not.

He also had a special gift for nicknames. To him, I wasn’t just me, I was “Fork handles”… or just “Fork” for short, said with the kind of grin that made you laugh before you even knew why. That was Dicky all over — turning everyday moments into jokes and leaving people smiling long after.

Dicky’s stories will be told and retold for years to come, growing funnier every time (as he would have wanted). He was a lovely man with a huge heart, a sharp wit, and a laugh that will echo on. He will be greatly missed, but his humour, warmth, and unforgettable spirit will never be forgotten.
RIP Dicky, you’re gonna be missed very much!
